Hudson-Litchfield

     Rachel Cullen of Litchfield participated in Susquehanna University’s 16th Annual Honors Band Festival held in mid-February.  She is a junior majoring in music education at Susquehanna and is a member of the Symphonic Band and plays the brass clarinet.  She is a 2005 graduate of Campbell High School and is the daughter of Brian and Donna Cullen.

     Kelly Mustone of Hudson has been initiated into Sigma Phi Sigma at Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island.  This honor society is the highest recognition students at Salve can receive.  Thee students represent the best of the best Salve has to offer.  She is the daughter of Bonnie Mustone.

     Jared R. Auclair has been awarded a doctorate in biomedical sciences with a concentration in biochemistry from the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine, Worcester, Massachusetts.  He is currently working as a post-doctorate associate at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts and is studying neurodegenerative diseases.  He is a 1997 graduate of Alvirne High School and is the son of Louise and Robert A. Auclair. 

     William “Ben” Towne of Litchfield is one of 80 students nationally to be awarded a 2008 Morris K. Udall Scholarship which go to future leaders in environmental fields.  He is currently studying electrical and computer engineering at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, and is involved with the college’s new Economic Empowerment and Global Learning Project.  He is a 2005 graduate of Campbell High School and is the son of Jeffrey and Barbara Towne.

     Jackie Saindon of Hudson was recently accepted to New England School of Communications in Bangor, Maine, where she will be entering into the Communications Program with a concentration in Radio Broadcasting. 

     Bob Robbins, Chair of the Lower Merrimack River Local Advisory Committee and Hudson resident, has won the President’s Volunteer Service Award which was presented to him on Earth Day 2008 by the Environmental Protection Agency’s Administrator. 

     Stephanie Long, a resident of Hudson, has earned a spot on the Distinguished Dean’s List at Acadia University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for the spring semester.

     Meghan Slaalien of Litchfield, a Dance bachelor’s degree major at Dean College in Franklin, Massachusetts, was inducted into the Upsilon Zeta Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society this spring. 

     Greer Wooley of Hudson recently played the roll of queen in the musical production of The Emperor’s New Clothes at the Applewild School in Fitchburg, Massachusetts.

     Navy Reserve Seaman Recruit lee T.  Grande, son of Gail E. Preble of Fryeburg, Maine, and Thomas Grande of Litchfield, recently completed Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois. 

     Kevin Fadden of Hudson has received high honors at the Regional Services and Educational Center Academy in Amherst for the third quarter.

Pelham-Windham

     Matthew Geisler of Pelham has been named to the Dean’s List at Johnson and Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island for the winter term.  He is pursuing an associate degree in Culinary Arts from the College of Culinary Arts.

     Melissa Fitzgerald of Windham was named first-place winner in the Seventh Grade division of the “Try Prayer!  It Works” contest, a national competition by Family Rosary of Holy Cross Ministries, that encourages students to express their faith through the arts.  Her colorful artwork was selected from more than 3,000 entries.  She is a student at Presentation of Mary Academy in Hudson.

     Dot Lane of Windham was the first place Table Topics winning speaker in the Toastmasters International Speech and Table Topics Contest held recently.  She will now participate at the “District 45” Toastmasters International and Table Topic Contests to be held in Vermont.

     Jessica Pappagianopoulos of Pelham was named to the ninth grade honor roll at Austin Preparatory School in Reading Massachusetts for the third quarter. 

     Windham residents Steven DeLuca, Grade 12; Jennifer Dickerson, Grade 11; Lawrence McQuaid, Grade 11, and Christopher Keating, Grade 8 (Distinction); were named to the honor roll at Austin Preparatory School in Reading Massachusetts for the third quarter.

     Seven local actors are featured in the Kids Coop Theatre’s upcoming production of Willy Wonka Jr.  From Pelham are Mitchell Cabral and Nina Cabral; and from Windham, Shannon Wakeford, Patrick Stapp, Timothy Stapp, and Nicole Croteau.

     Krista Gennell of Pelham has been named to the Dean’s List a the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising, The College for the Business of Fashion, in New York City, New York.

Salem

     Carolyn A. Arcabascio has been named to the Chancellor’s List at the University of Massachusetts – Dartmouth for the fall semester.

     Wendy Sammartino has advanced to Coordinator as an Independent Distributor for Market America, an innovative product brokerage and Internet marketing company. 

     Dane Hoover will be running the in the 112th Boston Marathon on April 21 to raise money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.  To contribute to the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge visit www.RunDFMC.org.

     Marine Corps Private Scott A. Khoury, son of Pamela A. Khoury of Salem and Scott A. Khoury of Hampton, recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.

     Navy Seaman Apprentice Stephanie M. Gibbs, daughter of Christine A. Walker of Litchfield and William R. Gibbs of Salem recently completed Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois.

     Carol Smokenski was among the members of the Merrimack Valley Chorus that presented a variety of upbeat tunes for an appreciative audience at the New England Flower Show held recently at the Bayside Expo in Boston, Massachusetts.  The chorus performed Rhapsody in Green.

     Kassia Russell, a junior at Notre Dame Academy in Tyngsborough, Massachusetts, was among 18 students who were recently inducted into the National Honor Society.

     Curtis Paparian, a junior at Austin Preparatory School in Reading, Massachusetts, was recently inducted into the National Honor Society.  He is the son of Seth and Patricia Paparian.

     Tina Doherty has received top honors from lia sohia’s Excellent Beginning Program Achievers for her outstanding sales accomplishments and professionalism.
